100% of the funds from the concert will go directly to the Santa Fe Faith Coalition, to provide emergency support for immigrant families. Please come out if you can!

Protect Roadless Forests 🌲

Today, September 8, 6:00-7:30 PM, at Tumbleroot Brewery and Distillery, NM Wild and Sierra Club Rio Grande Chapter are hosting a People's Public Hearing to Protect Our Roadless Forests.

The public comment period on the proposed rescission of the Roadless Area Conservation Rule ends on September 21. You can submit your comment here.

Banner Drop - Bigger and Better 🇺🇸

From Linda F: The August 29 banner drop at Cuyamungue was a great success. We broke all records, with 18 people joining the crew! It was an awesome day, and everyone had a great time.

Strengthening Immigrant Protections 🛡️

At ISF's August 24 meeting, Mayor Michael Garcia and Immigration Committee chair Ivan Cornejo spoke about plans to strengthen protections for immigrants in Santa Fe. The Santa Fe New Mexican recently reported on the meeting and on legislation that the mayor and city councilors are proposing:

• An ordinance prohibiting use of city property for immigration enforcement purposes and requiring employers to notify employees of I-9 audits
• A resolution reaffirming the city's existing legislation in support of immigrants, encouraging residents to use city public safety services, and encouraging all in the community to fact-check public safety information
• A resolution updating the Immigration Committee's guidelines to include a member of the City Council and a designated police department liaison.

Salaries for NM Legislators 🏛️

In the upcoming election, New Mexicans will vote on several proposed amendments to the state Constitution. These include Amendment 4, whose main provision entitles state legislators to be paid for their service.

The New Mexico Legislature's website has the full text, summaries, and arguments for and against each proposed amendment.

Meet NM Gubernatorial Candidates 🤝

Later this month, at Sky Cinemas Railyard, the Santa Fe New Mexican's Conversations Different podcast will hold live interviews with the Democratic and Republican candidates for New Mexico governor. Free tickets are required in order to attend.

BlueCD2 Postcard Parties ✍️

Last weekend's BlueCD2NM postcard writing party was not the last! The next writing party will be September 26, from 12:00-2:00 PM, at CHOMP Culinary Collective.
