Indivisible Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Faith Coalition announce this exciting and important fundraiser!
Last year, the Santa Fe Faith Coalition raised an impressive $82k to support immigrant families in our community. At a time when our friends and neighbors face targeted attacks on our fundamental rights and freedoms, non-profits in the City can step forward with support thanks in large part to Santa Fe Faith Coalition. The Faith Coalition are key partners with New Mexico Immigrant Law Center, Adelante Program, Santa Fe Public Schools, Contigo Immigrant Justice, Las Cumbres and Gerard's House.
A few weeks ago, a husband and wife living in Santa Fe for several decades were arrested by masked ICE agents. The couple has three children aged 29, 11 and 9. The wife was deported, and her husband was detained in prison. Several organizations were immediately involved in helping the children, with the main point of connection being the Santa Fe Faith Coalition. They were able to pay the family’s rent and provide legal and other assistance. The 29-year-old has now assumed the role of parenting the younger children. Since that time, we have witnessed two shocking arrests on the same day of a mother while her two-year-old was still in the car and a father going to a medical appointment at La Familia Health Clinic. ICE arrested him while his 13-year-old daughter looked on in distress. SaFeRR was there to support his daughter in the moment while documenting the event and connect the family with immediate support.
Indivisible Santa Fe (ISF) has, as one of its main priorities, immigrant rights and concerns, especially current unlawful and traumatic attacks from ICE.
ISF is an active supporter of SaFeRR, Santa Fe's ICE Watch and Rapid Response.
In addition, our members attend the City of Santa Fe Immigrant Committee monthly meetings to stay current with immigrant needs and concerns, then report back to the general membership so actions can be taken. ISF hosted Mayor Garcia and Ivan Cornejo recently to provide updates about ICE presence in the city and the cities response. Ivan is the Chair of the City of Santa Fe Immigrant Committee.
This coming Friday, September 11th, we are delighted to have the opportunity to co-sponsor this fundraiser concert for the Santa Fe Faith Coalition. 100% of the funds from the concert will go directly to the Santa Fe Faith Coalition.
