Stephanie Garcia Richard is a teacher, former legislator, and the first woman and Latina elected as New Mexico Commissioner of Public Lands. Since taking office in 2018, she has delivered historic results for the state's public schools, raising over $15 billion for education and increasing renewable energy production on state trust lands by more than 600%. Additionally, she has spearheaded affordable housing initiatives to address the state's housing crisis.
Born in Tucumcari, raised in Silver City, and rooted in Northern New Mexico, she currently lives there with her husband, Eric.
