A Speakers' Corner for Santa Fe is going strong. After a powerful session at No Kings 2.0, we resumed at the Railyard on Saturday, October 25. You have to come yourself to fully appreciate how energizing, fun, and rewarding Speakers' Corner is. When I suggested Indivisible Santa Fe do this, I had no idea myself.
On Saturday, October 25, we had a great turnout from Indivisible Santa Fe members. People who had not spoken before stepped up and some stalwarts shared new ideas and opinions.

We even had an activist from Las Vegas, New Mexico take a turn.
The importance of improving health care access and public health resources for New Mexicans came up repeatedly. Steve laid out the case for New Mexico joining interstate health provider licensing compacts and for reasonable medical malpractice reform. Niko talked about how easy it is to forget the benefits of vaccines, because we take our freedom from disease for granted. I urged that New Mexico join the Governors' Public Health Alliance, a collective effort by states to replace some of the public health care infrastructure decimated by Trump and RFK, Jr, especially information sharing about disease incidence and spread.
Natalie spoke eloquently about the significance of information generally, and how people who are exposed only to rightwing propaganda, cannot act or vote wisely. Her remarks intersected with Niko's general theme: people are not informed about history and that makes them complacent and unaware of the role a good, large government can play in making all of our lives easier.

Daphne forcefully described Speaker of the House Mike Johnson's complicity in the rise of fascism in America.

Shari added the kicker, noting that as Americans, we all should expect the Speaker of the House to act in everybody's interest. She urged us to call Speaker Johnson and tell him what we want.
