Hello all!

Santa Fe's No Kings protest is coming up this Saturday, June 14. Official kick-off time is 10 am at the Roundhouse, with music and signups for open mic starting at 9:30 am. The sponsors of the protest have also scheduled a 10:45 am start time for marching. ISF is committed to these sidewalk demonstrations being done effectively, peacefully, lawfully, and safely. We have the right to use the sidewalks, but only in accordance with law and public safety.

The legal requirements for sidewalk demonstrations are:

  • do not use amplification (e.g., bullhorns, speakers)
  • remain mobile - keep moving but make sure to obey traffic signals
  • do not block building entrances or exits along the way or event access points
  • only carry by-hand materials such as signs, leaflets and banners; no carts or stationary tables
  • obey all traffic regulations:
    • stop at red lights if you are crossing streets
    • do not march in the roads themselves
    • if there is no actual sidewalk proceed alongside the road but not in it
    • if you are forced to walk on the road for any reason stay as close to the curb as possible

At No Kings, we anticipate there will be more than one route people will march along. We expect that some folks at the Roundhouse will head to the Plaza. We do not recommend you march to the Plaza: if any sizable number of people do this, it will be virtually impossible for you to also march to the Plaza in a law-abiding manner. Instead, we recommend and encourage you to take what we call The Roundhouse Route, see map below, because it has fairly wide sidewalks and can be completed without crossing roads. Also, we want cars on Paseo de Peralta and Old Santa Fe Trail to see No Kings marchers and their signs!

Of course, if you don't want to march or cannot do so, it is perfectly ok to remain on the Roundhouse grounds. There are after-march activities planned for that location.
