“No Kings” Mass Recruitment Campaign

The June 14th “No Kings” protest presents an enormous opportunity for Indivisible Santa Fe. We are a “People Power” movement. And the people will definitely be showing up for this event. Have you been one who has wanted more young people involved in our movement? I can guarantee you, they will be there that Saturday. Have you wanted greater diversity, greater numbers? June 14th is our opportunity to make this happen.
We need to look on the June 14th event, not only as an opportunity to raise our own voices and protest the excesses of the Trump administration, but also to reach out, connect with others, build out our base, and grow in numbers and strength.
But this will take an ambitious plan. I want to offer such a plan.
In terms of the communications we present, our newsletter is the most content-rich offering we have. It is very timely, often drawing upon news that is breaking the very days of its publication. In line with the Indivisible Guide 2.0, it expresses a bias toward action by publishing the national asks every week. The weekly newsletter is the kind of instrument that can motivate and energize people to join with us to build a force of resistance against authoritarianism and of promotion and protection of democracy.
Unfortunately, most of our communications efforts are more-or-less talking to ourselves: people who already know our website address, already subscribe to our newsletter, already follow us on social media. We can change this on June 14th if we view that event as an opportunity for mass recruitment. We could simply have a tent and a table to sign up people if they happen to approach, but we should not rely upon such passive efforts. Rather, we need to go out and meet people where they are, actively introduce them to Indivisible Santa Fe, and actively invite them to join our efforts.
Here’s the plan: I am calling for volunteers from ISF to serve as Ambassadors to ISF at the “No Kings” protest. We will equip and empower you. You will have a t-shirt with both Indivisible branding as well as “No Kings” branding, so that you will rightly be viewed as a sponsor and a host of the event, ready to greet and welcome those who participate. You will have a button with a QR code that will provide immediate access to our subscription page on the ISF website. If the people you are engaging are holding signs, no worries: you will be provided business cards, again with both “No Kings” and ISF branding, along with QR subscription codes that folks can take home with them and sign up at their convenience. You will be provided with talking points and conversation openers. You will be given training and an opportunity to practice.
Here are the goals of this effort: I want to recruit fifty (50!) volunteers from ISF to serve as Ambassadors during the June 15th protest. We should seek 500 new subscribers to our newsletter through our website in the week following the protest. And we should raise $1000 in donations to fund this effort; I propose asking Ambassadors for a contribution (if possible) of $10 to reimburse ISF for the cost of the t-shirt, buttons, and business cards. In addition, I would like to find 5 people who would be willing to contribute $50 each, and another $10 people who would be willing to contribute $25 each.
Have you wanted to see more people involved with Indivisible Santa Fe? Younger people? A more diverse movement? This is your opportunity. Will you step up to volunteer to be an Ambassador on that day? Will you step up to support these efforts through a pledge of financial support? Please contact me atcommunications@indivisiblesantafe.orgto join our efforts to make these growth plans a reality.
