National purpose with local action
Next meeting: Monday June 9, 2025 @7pm
Christ Lutheran Church
1701 Arroyo Chamiso Road, Santa Fe
HAVE A TACO 🌮! In honor of how Trump dislikes having been identified as a weak leader trying to look strong, enjoy a Taco while you read about TACO. And as always keep a watch out for misinformation - don't engage with the lies, and keep talking about the truth instead.
Authoritarian propaganda tricks us into believing the worst of people, demoralizing and dividing us. Don't buy it. Our hope for a civil society rooted in shared values isn’t naïve. It’s how we fight back.
– Truth Brigade

💰 Indivisible National 🇺🇸 will be matching funds in June, up to $500 🚀 If you've been thinking of donating, now's the time. And if you already have, it's a good time to triple down!
Fighting Plutocracy
Drug-addled Musk slinking away... but not really
Musk’s time at the helm of DOGE might not have saved taxpayer money, but [...] Musk’s association with Trump has made him an estimated $170 billion richer.

☮️ Don't forget: Peacekeeping & De-escalation training is going on in Santa Fe on June 7 from 9-12. This training introduces principles and methods of working with interpersonal conflict in nonviolent protest settings. It takes an approach of constructive engagement in conflict that moves participants away from destructive dynamics and towards mutually satisfactory solutions. The trainer is a life-long nonviolence activist, mediator, and holds a master's degree in conflict resolution. To join, email peacekeepers@swcp.com to register and get details about the location in Santa Fe.

We also meet regularly with Legislators' staff. If you're interested, check out the process:

Taking action
If you want to take action that's both easy and effective, check out https://resist.bot/ - a handy chatbot tool that makes it easy to let your representatives know what you think! I used it to let my senators know I want them to vote against the Big Bad Billionare's bill (aka the budget reconciliation); it was easy peasy!
No Kings Protest
Get out the signs and protest
Less than two weeks away, the June 14 No Kings protest is shaping up nicely, with over 1,400 events planned across the country (see National update)

Indivisible Santa Fe is sponsoring a protest at the Roundhouse from 10 to 12:30.

The protest should be a fun time to show solidarity with like-minded pro-democracy folks, and also a chance to help people discover our community of activists. Read about Scott's campaign to boost membership:

Do you know of a perfect spot for a poster advertising the upcoming “No Kings” protest on June 14th? The bulletin board at your grocery store? Your favorite gastropub? Your lefty barber shop? Maybe you know of five such places just calling out for a “No Kings” poster. Now you can take the initiative and make that happen. Download the official Santa Fe flyer, print it out at home or your local copy shop, and start posting away. Let’s make “No Kings” Santa Fe’s biggest protest yet!

Politics is local
With so much going on at the national level, we have to remember that politics is local too!

Stay in touch with us
We now have a resources page with lots of links to useful information!
And we are continuing to build out our following on social media accounts. We're currently focused primarily Bluesky and Facebook. You can help out with this effort by following us and liking and re-posting our messages. Help us get the word out and expand our digital presence!
Independence Project
We are launching a Declaration of Independence project, to remind us of why we're no longer part of Britain:

If you want help, just think about the answer to the question:
“What do I say to the present Mad King having read what Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, the boys in wigs, said to Mad King George?”
And bring your Declaration to the June 9 meeting. We’ll help you record it!
Indivisible National
(published June 2, 2025)
We know a lot of folks love our co-founder Ezra Levin’s weekly introduction to this newsletter, but others like to skip the preamble and get right to work on action items. A few even write back -- some quite politely, some a bit more colorfully -- to ask that we shorten things up a bit.
That’s totally OK! We appreciate feedback of all kinds, and we really want to make this newsletter as useful and interesting as possible. So today we’re doing things differently and asking for your thoughts directly:
Maybe we’ll keep things just as they are. Maybe we’ll add a shorter option -- just for those who prefer we stick to key action items and updates.
That really depends on how you folks respond, so please click here to take the newsletter survey and tell us if you want Ezra’s intros.

And now… read on for your weekly to-dos!
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
Your weekly to-dos
- Email your senators -- Republicans and Democrats -- to demand they speak out LOUDLY against the No Contempt Clause! The GOP hid a reckless provision to shield Trump officials from contempt of court in their Medicaid-slashing megabill. We need to get Republican senators on the record about that sneak-attack on democracy -- and push Democrats to disrupt Republicans’ anti-democracy agenda with every tool at their disposal.
- Call folks in key states to connect them with GOP senators and disrupt the Republican Tax Scam. As the Senate rewrites the reconciliation bill, we’re making sure vulnerable senators hear from their angry constituents by calling people to connect them directly to senators' offices! Phonebanks happen weekly, and anyone can join with just a phone and computer. Here’s a recorded phonebank training to hit the ground running!
- Sign up for a No Kings protest next Saturday, June 14, to defy Trump’s tyranny and rain on his self-serving birthday parade. As Trump hosts his un-American military parade in DC, we’re rising up everywhere else -- at 1,400 local events and counting -- to show him and our fellow Americans what real power looks like.
- “Get Your People to No Kings” with a virtual training led by Vote Save America -- tonight, June 2, 8pm ET / 5pm PT. Join some familiar faces tonight for an online workshop that’ll give you a concrete plan to recruit your friends and make your local No Kings event huge. Can’t make it? That’s OK! Recordings will be posted on YouTube and the No Kings trainings page.
- Join a “What’s the Plan” call (Thursdays, 3pm ET / 12pm PT) to ask Leah and Ezra your questions about reconciliation, No Kings, and more! Each Thursday, our co-founders jump online to break down the news, draw inspiration from Indivisibles’ work, and answer your questions directly. Come be part of a free-flowing, interactive chat about what’s next in our fight for democracy.
P.S. It’s a key moment in our fight to stop the Republican Tax Scam, and we’ve rolled out billboards, phonebanks, door knocking, digital programs, and more! Grassroots giving has already helped expand our efforts in big ways, but if you can spare it, you can chip in today to fund billboards and nationwide organizing to defeat the Medicaid-killing MAGA agenda.
This week's update on the Republican Tax Scam
We’ve written A LOT about Republicans’ reconciliation bill since our last newsletter, including detailed breakdowns of what’s next after the House voted and the “No Contempt Clause” meant to shield Trump from court rulings. We’ll keep this week’s update pretty short by comparison.
The Senate is about to “take a sledgehammer” to the bill that passed in the House, and that’s really good for two reasons:
- Some of House Republicans’ craziest and most dangerous provisions could be killed in the Senate -- whether that’s due to the Senate’s complex reconciliation rules or to the many disagreements between hard-right House Republicans and vulnerable Senate Republicans.
- The bill needs to pass the House a second time, and every change in the Senate makes that so, so much harder. Speaker Mike Johnson spent weeks doling out concessions and striking delicate deals to earn the crucial YES votes he needed. Many of those are about to be smashed in the Senate, and his entire house of cards could collapse -- dooming the bill entirely.
Our goal right now is putting unrelenting political pressure on Senate Republicans so we can maximize the changes and draw the process out as long as possible. One way you can help is by making sure key senators hear from their constituents.
Phonebanks like these can only be held on weekdays during business hours, when senate phonelines are staffed, but we understand that many volunteers can’t join us at those times! If you can’t join a phonebank, you can still take action anytime: Send your Republican senator an email or write to your Republican representative. Then, share those links with friends and neighbors to multiply your impact. |
Where you can protest Trump’s tyranny June 14
We now have over 1,400 No Kings events planned in all 50 states and abroad. We truly have the opportunity to make June 14 -- the day of Trump’s military birthday parade -- one of the biggest days of mass protest of our lifetimes, but we need everyone who's able standing with us.
Click here to see all the No Kings Day protests on our map, and sign up to stand with us on June 14.
Planning an event of your own? Use our No Kings Host Toolkit for help organizing and promoting your event, including adding it to the map! If you’ve registered an event that isn’t shown, please check the map again in 24 hours, and then email events@nokings.org for support! |
